If your body harbors some excess fat that you find difficult to get rid of then liposuction is probably for you. But how much does liposuction cost, I hear you ask.
Well, the cost is highly dependent on 3 major factors. The first major determinant is the area to be treated. The second relates to the cost of hiring the specialists who will be performing varied functions.
The third major factor is the cost of using the particular facility where the procedure will be undertaken. However, apart from these major factors there are many other things that may influence how much you get charged for the procedure.
These include the geographical location and any extra procedures that will be included in the liposuction.
Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover cosmetic procedures such as liposuction, Coolsculpting, zerona, or even teeth whitening.
Cost by Body Part
Liposuction charges vary by area of the body, the most expensive areas being the thighs, breasts, lower abdomen, and upper abdomen.
For instance, the price for lower abdomen liposuction ranges between $3,000 and $7,500 in various American clinics. The female breast area costs slightly more than the male breast. The butt, arms, and neck have prices ranging from $1,500 to $5,000 each.
Other body areas where liposuction treatment may be applied include the cheeks, jowls, chin, and neck at $2,000. The flanks may cost between $2,000 and $5,000 while the anterior and inner thighs may each cost between $2,000 and $5,000.
Cost of Specialists
There are various specialists who will be on duty during the procedure. First, you need the surgeon who will administer the treatment. For one body area, the surgeon may charge around $2,000.
The fee goes up to $5,000 or $7,000 for three and five body areas respectively. A second very important specialist will be an anesthesiologist and this will cost you a further $500, $800, or $1,000 for 1, 3, and 5 body areas respectively.
Additional charges will include fees for the nurse and charges for using the facility or hospital.
Extra Procedures
Most liposuction patients request some extra cosmetic services to be done together with the liposuction. Extra procedures vary widely from leg vein laser treatment to mole removal.
Some of the more common extra procedures and their approximate costs include butt lift ($4,500), cellulite massage treatment ($250), ultrasound-assisted liposuction ($3,000), sclerotherapy ($350), tummy tuck ($5,000), and lower body lift ($8,000).
Geographical Area
Liposuction is more expensive in the West Coast compared to the West Coast. This is mainly due to the higher demand levels in West Coast States.
At the same time, cosmetic surgery procedures are far more expensive in the large cities compared to small towns. This is because of the higher real estate costs and the use of more expensive equipment.
The same applies to areas within cities. The price will be higher at a specialist’s office located in an affluent part of town compared to one in a less affluent part of town.
