How Much Do Promoted Tweets Cost

If you know anything about social media on a personal level, then you’ve definitely seen all of the paid advertisements and postings that are sure to be found in all search results and feeds, regardless of where you go on the Internet.

If you’re a small business owner or you have a message that you want heard, you’re probably asking yourself “How much do promoted tweets cost?

For many business owners, using promoted tweets can be a great way to increase your revenue and it can often pay itself back, but for other businesses it becomes too expensive.

How Much Does It Cost to Promote a Tweet on Twitter

The answer to this question is both a simple one and a complicated one. It’s not hard to figure out once you get the chance to use it for yourself, but here is a basic explanation that should help you out at first.

When you go through Twitter, you place a bid based on how much you are willing to pay per follow, or PPF. You make sure that this PPF price is within your range and then you set your basic budget for the day.

This is here to make sure that you don’t go over budget and end up spending more money than you are able to. Once your budget is filled, your promoted tweets will disappear from the news feed and they won’t let your cost go over the budget you set.

Typically, you can bid to pay anywhere from around 20 cents to $5. This is all based on your budget, of course, and it’s all up to you.

Promoted Tweets Cost

Based on how much you are willing to pay, your advertisement or promoted tweets will appear in different rankings in the news feed. Needless to say, you won’t have your banners placed high up if you choose the lowest possible price and some rankings might be taken before you have the chance to place your bid.

If you want to see your promoted tweets at the very top of the news feed, it will be much more expensive than just a couple cents. You also will not be charged for anything that you shouldn’t pay for.

It is a PPF, pay per follow, service. This means that if your promoted tweets aren’t successful and no one clicks on, follows, favorites, shares, or comments on your tweets at all, then you will pay nothing at all. It is all based on how much benefit you actually get out of your promoted tweets.

Will Promoted Tweets Work?

You never know for certain that your promoted tweets will work out for you. There is always a chance that some people might not be interested in what you have to say or what your business might be; your post might not be interesting or eye-catching enough to result in the increase in business that you are looking for.

However, if you do it right and you invest your money properly, many businesses have an average increase of 20% in profits. The investment usually pays for itself at the very least, and you have the opportunity to expand your customer base and improve the quality of your business long-term.

Before you invest your money, make sure that you know what you are doing. Have a set budget that you do not want to go over, and make sure that you keep it set strictly to that.

Don’t post anything until you’re certain that that’s what you want out in the media. You don’t need to post anything that you don’t feel comfortable with.

And sometimes some attempts might be more successful than others; if you can, try to invest more than once to see if you can be more successful later on. Your audience is always changing and you will always have more opportunities.

  1. Hi there,

I am curious about the PPF aspect. What if I have a product for a recording artist who has 12k followers. I don’t need more followers but I DO what his 12k following to see that promoted tweet which directs them to a squeeze page. Is this doable and what would the average cost be?

    • Hi Johnny,

Thank you for your question. The total cost would depend on two factors – 1. Your budget and 2. Amount you want to spend per click or follow.

Actually, it’s hard to estimate the fixed cost without knowing the artist. If there are no any other advertisers bidding on that artist, it will cost less for you. It’s just like other advertising programs such as Google Adword.

You can set a daily budget (for example: $20-$50) and see how it goes. Also, the cost won’t be same for 2 different person since it’s totally dependent on CTR.
